FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I'm not exactly sure what a web host is. Can you explain?
In order to have a website that is available on the internet, all the files that comprise your website must be stored on a server. A web host provides this storage for you.
What exactly is the different between a web host and a domain registrar?
In addition to needing storage space on a server for your files (provided by the web host), you also will need a domain name (i.e. www.yourbusiness.com). A domain registrar lets you register a domain name of your choice. Then, once your domain is correctly set up with your host, when someone types that domain name in their browser, they will see your website. Camna, LLC provides both web hosting and domain services, so there is no need for you to register a domain with another registrar. However, if you already have a domain, and just need hosting, we can work with your current registrar so that it is pointed to our servers.
How can I access my files on your server?
Once your domain name and hosting plan have been set up, you will be able to access your files using sFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol). If you wish to manage your files yourself, there are many free sFTP clients available for download. Camna, LLC also provides web development and maintenance services if you would rather have your website managed for you.
How can I access my e-mail on your server?
Once your domain name, hosting plan, and e-mail address(es) have been configured, you will be able to access your e-mail in a number of ways. If you wish to read your e-mail in your favorite web browser, you can access your e-mail by going to: http://mail.YOURDOMAINHERE.com and logging in with your e-mail address and password. Alternatively, you can access your e-mail using your favorite e-mail client, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc. using POP or IMAP.
